As a member of your electric cooperative, you have the power to help keep energy costs down in your community. The price of electricity can fluctuate. Peak periods occur when electricity is in highest demand, and therefore, at its most expensive. REC's load management program allows us to send a signal over the power lines to a Demand Response Unit (DRU), which is installed on your A/C unit. During peak periods the unit will cycle the compressor off for a few minutes every hour, while your fan continues to circulate the air in your home keeping your home comfortable. After the cycle period has ended, your compressor will operate in its normal mode. Most participants never notice a difference in the cooling of their home. Participation is easy, voluntary and 100% free. Once the cooling season is over, you will receive a onetime credit of $25 on your electric bill. It's that simple!!!
